Finding out what curly hair products that works for you can be hard. When I first started my natural hair journey I was a junior in high school back in 2013. Around that time the natural hair movement was BOOMING all over YouTube and everywhere else on the internet. Like many I was swoon over the thought of wearing your natural hair but I’m not going to lie, I had no idea where to start when it came to my hair despite what I was seeing on the internet.
I didn’t know what I was doing or which curly hair products would give me the best results. I was a straight up amateur but along the way I learned a lot in my fail attempts. Fast foreword, it’s safe to say I have a clear idea of what my hair needs vs what it doesn’t need, and I want give you some helpful recommendations so maybe you don’t have to deal with as many mistakes in your journey.
In today’s post you will learn what are the best curly hair products needed to jumpstart your natural hair journey.
1. The Denman Hair Brush
The Denman brush can not only be use to detangle natural hair but it is also a useful tool for coil defining as well. I love this brush so much because it helps with keeping my frizz down, and helps with brushing my thick hair into a neat ponytail. If you’re thinking about getting this brush then I suggest you get the 7 row brush that way you can always pluck and customized according to your hair needs.
2. A Spray bottle
I had countless of messes when it came to wetting my hair over the sink. When I found out about this spray bottle it was a complete life saver. I had no more messes and my drying time was cut in half.
3. Hair Diffuser
If you have low porosity hair like me, you most likely benefit from getting a diffuser. My hair dry’s very slow, so I would have use heat to help my hair lock in moisture and dry my hair faster.
4. Attachable Hair Dryer
I love my attachable hair dryer! It’s lightweight and easy to store away. This is product is great if you want that salon hands free drying experience. In my opinion, I think this is way better then the normal hooded dryer because it dry’s the whole circumference of your head instead of just one section, I can’t be the only one that finds that super annoying. This right here is a game changer.
5. Mix Chicks Deep Conditioner
I first found out about mixed chicks deep conditioner from a Youtuber name PhillyJamzPoet, she sore up and down that mixed chicks deep conditioner is what helped her grow and keep her ends healthy. So when I tried it out for myself I saw a change in my hair. My hair was soft and manageable, and my ends were healthy. The slip is feels great too, definitely nice for dry brittle hair.
6. Kinky- Curly Knot Today
Kinky Curly Knot Today has been around for years and I can see why! It’s a light weight product that leave the hair soft without that greasy feel. If you have fine hair I would suggest starting with small amounts so your hair doesn’t get weighed down.
7. Eco Style gel
I don’t care what anyone has to say, this is my go too definer for my wash and go’s. It works like a charm and doesn’t build up and flake my hair.
8. Microfiber towel
You’ve probably heard already but yes cotton towels are not the best when it come to drying your hair. Cotton absorbs moisture and leaves your hair feeling dry which is why I prefer microfiber towel. This tool is essential especially if your trying to retain your hair length.
Again with the cotton lol or maybe you put some perm rods and need them to be secure overnight. Either way every woman needs a bonnet in my opinion.
Who doesn’t love baby hairs? They are the icing on the cake when in comes to hairstyling. That’s why I love to have a small brush and comb on hand when it comes to laying down my edges.
So that’s wraps up my top 10 product recommendations for curly hair. I hope this post helped you find what curly hair products works the best when making your journey easier. If you’re just starting out your then, I would say don’t stress if your hair doesn’t turn out the way you envision it. It’s okay, getting to know your hair is part of the journey. Just keep practicing you will get the results your looking for.
